About Michael Flurkey Building Contractor Inc.

Our history as a Florida certified building contractor serving the Orlando Florida area begins with owner Michael Flurkey and his 30 years' experience. Our about us and history page is about Michael and his professional experience in the construction industry including Orlando and Central Florida.

Michael Flurkey's construction career started in high school 1977. Getting the opportunity to enroll in the cooperative work training program that allowed him to go to school and also receive a carpenter's apprenticeship training program from a local construction company he was taught the trade by Master Carpenters his junior and senior years in high school. After early graduation in January 1978 he went to work full time in the construction industry.

A family friend who owned a lumber yard in Chicago informed him that they were shipping huge amounts of lumber to Kissimmee, Florida. In 1979 after a rather brutal Midwest winter Michael decided to move to the warmer climate in Orlando Florida and immediately started his own business, Michael A. Flurkey Associates, and began framing custom homes for the area's major builders. He later started building boat docks, and doing roofing and reroofs.

In 1992 Michael obtained his State Certified Building Contractors License, and also his State Certified Roofing Contractors License. After Hurricane Andrew devastated South Florida in the summer of 1992 he opened up an office in Dade County and began reconstruction and reroofing many houses in Miami.

Word quickly spread about the quality of workmanship, and the integrity of this contractor from Orlando that kept his company very busy for the next 3 years. Many unlicensed contractors from all across the United States had descended on Miami and unfortunately defrauded homeowners out of money, and did shoddy work, not up to code.

In addition to being a Florida State Certified Building Contractor and Roofing Contractor, Michael continues his construction and contracting education. The following is a (smaller than actual size) Certificate of Completion for the Design of Aluminum Structures for the purpose of providing aluminum awnings, storage buildings, screen rooms, and related construction.

Michael returned to Orlando in 1996 and got married. He went to work for the next 11 years as a superintendent, and later as senior project manager for some of Orlando's finest builders including: David Weekly Homes, Beazer Homes, Pulte Homes, and Inland Homes. After building hundreds of custom homes, and townhouses, in 2007 he took the knowledge, experiences, training, and best practices from all of these companies and started Michael Flurkey Building Contractor Inc.

After more than 30 years and building over 800 homes and townhouses, Michael's reputation as a hands on contractor with the professional experience and commitment to high quality makes Michael Flurkey Building Contractor Inc. a leader in the Orlando area construction industry.
